Wadebridge Community Hub has a double celebration with the opening of its new state of the art kitchen and receiving another 5* Food Hygiene Rating.
Concern Wadebridge at the John Betjeman Centre closed its Platform 1 Café in January for a full refurbishment of its kitchen.
It reopened at the start of February and received another 5* Food Hygiene rating.
Manager Emma Burt said: “It was a busy few weeks ripping out the kitchen and finding issues that you might not have expected and then our boiler gave up! However, with a fantastic team of workmen we soon got back on schedule and we are delighted with the final results.
“The icing on the cake was to receive another 5* Food Hygiene Rating – thank you to everyone for your hard work.”
The kitchen renovation was made possible thanks to a lot of funding raising including quizzes, tabletop sales, bingos and generous donation from supporters.
Emma added: “I know I say it all the time, but I am always so overwhelmed by the love and support we receive. Our Platform 1 café is so important to the local community providing home cooked food at an affordable price and a perfect way to catch up with friends, old and new.
“We pride ourselves on welcoming everyone who comes in with a smile and a friendly face to chat with and signpost people to services and support within the centre or local community.”
The centre offers a full menu from breakfasts, main meals, sandwiches to delicious puddings and cakes, all using local produce and cooked from scratch.
Highlights of the week are the Winer Warmer Wednesday supported by Wadebridge Lions Club to provide a main meal for £5 and a hot pudding for £2.50 and of course our sell-out Fish and Chip Fridays supported by Flying Fish Seafood Limited for just £7 for members and £8 for non-members.
